Watch Out This Pussy Bites – Get Your Copy Of The Free Zine That Grabs Back!

We wanted a zine. We wanted to react with “The Pussy Grabs Back”. We wanted to do an amazing collaborative project, originally starting as a calendar and then moved forward as a zine with writings from our feminist members and allies around the world. We wanted to create something spectacular from a collaboration of Punky Moms to sell and make more to donate to charities that support things that Donald Trump is against.

It’s been almost a year to the day that the whole world held their breath to only have their hopes and dreams crumble when it was announced that Trump had won. The Trump presidency has been frightening for many reasons, so much so that we don’t even want to go into details about it.

You know, we all know, the whole fucking world knows. 

Thankfully Americans and everyone in the Punky family know that they don’t have to blindly accept this administration’s discriminatory policies. We gathered a team of enthusiastic contributors around the world. Unfortunately and to our collective disappointment, we didn’t get all parties aligned in a timely fashion. Contributors were pulled away for parenting, school, work and fighting for the rights we felt were in danger. It’s been a difficult year and in the final hours we decided to create what we could into an ezine and donate what we raised ($250! thank you everyone!) to the Sylvia Rivera Law Project as originally intended. 

So here we are, almost a year later that he was elected and began systematically destroying everything further than we could’ve imagined. On this anniversary, we felt it was important to know that we did not keep quiet. We still kept getting louder. We knew we had to riot and not keep quiet.  If anything, his biggest achievement so far might have been inspiring Americans to give tons of money to advocacy groups who oppose some of the president’s more controversial policies.

Don’t fret though, whilst it may feel that irrevocable harm was done, we want you to still keep on getting louder. Not sure where to start? 20 Charities To Get Involved, Get Loud, Make Change With

Whether you’re most concerned about women’s reproductive rights, civil liberties, the environment, or LGBTQ issues, there are plenty of organizations here to choose from

1. Radical Monarchs The Radical Monarchs create opportunities for young girls of color to form fierce sisterhood, celebrate their identities and contribute radically to their communities
2. Pro Choice America  Find out if the laws in your state protect reproductive freedom or limit access to abortion care.
3. Reparations Natasha Marin is a conceptual artist working across disciplines and media to collaborate with People to create opportunities for meaningful IRL and digital engagement.
4. LAWA A dedicated free support service and the only refuge provider in the UK and Europe for Latin American, Black and minority ethnic women and children experiencing, or recovering from, domestic violence. We welcome women from any background, ethnicity, sexuality or ability, including trans* women.

10. PLANNED PARENTHOOD feel like this one needs to be in caps. Trump and his vice prez have been very open about wanting to get rid of Planned Parenthood and opposing abortion. Even though PP is mainly involved in preventative primary care rather than providing abortions. Without this nonprofit, many Americans would lose access to necessary health care.
11. Obama Foundation Self explanatory we think and also kind of badass
12. Voices for Chechnya – Government in the Russian republic of Chechnya are abducting and torturing LGBTIQ+ people. How can you stand by?
13. Black Lives Matter Get involved in the Fight for Black lives. Contact a local chapter, make a donation, make a purchase, and find resources and actions.
14. ACLU Know your rights and defend them . The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) works daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend them.
15. Safety Pin Box  A monthly subscription box for white people striving to be allies in the fight for Black Liberation.
16. Matthew’s Place LGBTQ+ Youth, a program of the Matthew Shepard Foundation
17. Charity Navigator This is a great resource when looking into how charities distribute the money you give them.
18. Southern Poverty Law Center The SPLC was founded in 1971 to ensure that the promise of the civil rights movement became a reality for all.
19. MALDEF The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund works as the legal defense of the Latinx community, working to advocate, educate, and politically empower Latinxs across the country. 
20. ProPublica Fake news and media bias have been all over the news in the wake of the election results. If you’re interested in supporting investigative journalism catered to the public interest, then get involved here.
