Sexism In Sports – Watch Male Athletes Getting Asked “Female” Questions

#covertheathlete

Sexism in sports needs to stop. Women used to just avoid participating in sports because they saw them as a male only club. The Sport World has changed considerably, and we are truly reaching a point when women need to grab that change and run with it.

Ah sexism in sports. Why is this still a thing? Cover the athlete (#Covertheathlete) has released this Public Service Announcement to shed light that these questions are bogus and outdated and have no place in interviews for athletes or fucking anyone in this day in age.

We would hope that no self respecting journalist today would seriously still be asking female athletes these questions, but it is still a sad day in journalism folks. I mean FIFA has FINALLY included women’s teams in their popular sport’s video game series. Wait until Olympic coverage starts!

Sexist commentary is ridiculous. We stand with Cover The Athlete’s campaign and stand up and are giving them a round of applause.

For generations, women just avoided participating in sports because they saw them as a male only club. The Sport World has changed considerably, and we are truly reaching a point when women need to grab that change and run with it. Run far.

It’s time to demand media coverage that focuses on the athlete. Send a message to a major news network or your own local network and ask them to #CoverTheAthlete – They have a list of major station’s contact info on their site (ESPN, BBC Sport, etc).
