A Punky Breakup Playlist – When the Love is Gone (a Trilogy, pt. 1)

When the love is gone and the relationship is over, there's always a song that will help you heal. Find yours in our special punky breakup spotify playlist.

It happens to everyone. That moment when we unequivocally know in our heart of hearts, that what we had is no longer the same, or is possibly gone entirely.

I’m not talking about your first crush, or the loss of your first pet, although those are also milestones along the path of exploring, defining and recognizing all that love entails. I’m talking about the end of your relationship with a significant person. One you gave a title to, even if you never uttered it.

It can end in a thousand different ways, and everyone’s journey is always so different.

But a couple of things remain true, no matter what, it’s hard. It’s deep. And it’s got a lot of societal baggage attached to it.

The bad news is that no one can deal with those difficulties or feelings, but you. The good news is that societal baggage doesn’t have to be something you put up with too much.

The other good news is that no matter which leg of the journey you’re on, there’s a song for you. One that will resonate with your empathy so hard that it will become a part of the soundtrack of your life. Someone out there, they understand the spot you’re in right now and maybe they can help you process what you’re feeling or the difficulty you have.

This trilogy is a starter pack to point you in a direction to find that song and to start to heal.

Part 1 – Just plain done.

Sometimes, love just falls away or people change so much that they have different needs in life than they did last year or a decade ago.

This loss is no less a loss than any of the others. And in some ways much harder than the angry obvious breakups.

Because how do you explain it to anyone? Or do you even bother? How do you tell that significant person that it’s not them, it’s you, and sincerely mean it? How do you keep from hurting someone you still care about but don’t love the way you used to? Is that possible?

Is it possible to be disappointed or betrayed and just let it go?

No matter the why’s or how’s, this list is for you.

All of those things are possible, and more.

A couple of dozen other people who’ve all gotten to this point and needed to let their story out into the world.

You’re not alone.
