Newbies Guide To All Things Punky Moms

Congratulations you have found Punky Moms! If you are new to the site we would like to welcome you with a big and loud HELLO! We are so excited to meet you. Whether you are a new parent or have been doing this gig for awhile, raising kids is probably one of the most awesome, stressful, inspiring, fulfilling, tears in your coffee rides of your life and we can’t wait to get to let you know you are not alone. 

If you are newly pregnant, you might be feeling a bit overwhelmed and still might be in shock that yes indeed your eggo is preggo. Where do I start? Will I screw up this child’s life? So many questions, where do you begin? Do not worry Punky, we will help guide you along the way. 

So here’s where Punky Moms comes in. If you’re feeling alone and left out, well that is our speciality! Right now we have a forum, and over 26 Facebook groups (at the time of print) to get involved in. This website is filled with articles about various Voices of Parenting, Craft ideas, Music Mixtapes and just tons of inspiration for parents raising kids. 

Punky Moms is a bunch of badass babes who also happen to be kicking motherhood in the ass too, we don’t subscribe to one parenting style, one political belief or even one type of person, we just believe in empowerment, discussion without judgement and raising each other up instead of bringing each other down. Raising rad kids by being rad people. The future is punk.

Our aim with Punky Moms is to provide a space for support, to bring people together, and to generally just save the world. If you ever tried to go to a local playdate and felt uneasy or stared at, or searched the world wide webs for advice only to feel crushed by what you didn’t find, well mama, you are in the right place!

The articles we publish are awesome because our writers are awesome and our readers are awesome. We are a very diverse bunch. There is no way to say exactly What is A Punky Mom because if there is anything we are not, it’s the same thing! Old School Punks, Goth Ladies Of Darkness, Retro Bettys, Hippy Mamas, Geeks & Freaks, Strange & Unusual. We are all here. It Wasn’t Just A Phase

Here’s What You Need To Know:

We try and update the website a few times a week. Since this is all run by volunteers, this is all dependent on nap times and just legit planning.  Be sure to bookmark the page and pop back regularly, sign up for our email club, or like us on Facebook to make sure you never miss an update! 

You can browse all our Parenting Topics or just the birth stories if you prefer. We have a few DIY tutorials dotted about as well as some Punky Approved Recipes to make mealtimes easier. Our personal favs are our Spotify Punky Mixtapes which we try and publish a new one every 2 weeks. Filled with tunes new and old, music is great for bringing people together. However, the easiest way to follow this site is to pop back regularly as everything ends up on the front page of the site when we publish it.

The most important thing we offer though at Punky Moms is community. We have a plethora of groups on Facebook you can join. The main ones being The Punky Moms Family, PMUK, Punky Dads and Punky Grandmas! We take security very serious here so for some of the groups you might have to fill out a little questionnaire before we open the door. Once you are a part of one of these groups you are welcome to join all the fun subgroups we have going on. If you aren’t a fan of Facebook, we also have a Forum that has been around since the beginning so you will always find some Punky Moms in there to ask a question to.  

You might be looking for some cool clothes for your kid (Or you!) or other rad independent shops, so make sure you check out our own online shop as well as these Punky Moms Featured Shops of some of the most awesome Punky Moms businesses. Shop small and support whenever possible. We don’t do much in the way of advertising (believe us, we have been very picky) so the shops on that list are incredibly awesome people doing amazing things. 

As mentioned before we all are pretty busy and as well as running this website full-time we also run an online shop and various online communities. 

So there we have it. That’s Punky Moms. Welcome. We have probably left out a bunch of stuff but if you are brand new to the site, don’t be shy – join a group (or 3) sit down with a hot drink (if children allow it) and enjoy browsing!
