PM: When was your company founded?
I started my company 4 years ago.
PM: Where are you based out of?
Santa Rosa Beach, FL
PM: How many are involved in the company?
I work alone, and so far its been manageable!
PM: What inspired you to start the company?
I was working full time as an Executive Assistant/Marketing Director for a local General Contracting Company, pregnant, with a 3 year old daughter. Once my son was born, financial reality set in…working and paying for daycare for 2 children vs. becoming a stay at home mom. Staying home became the smartest option, and the best option I could have ever chosen. I needed to find a way to generate some income, so one day I thought i would take a gamble at designing jewelry.
PM: Did you have a background in crafting prior to starting the company?
I taught myself how to solder metal, and cut glass… and created my jewelry by hand. Suddenly, the journey began. I quickly evolved from glass charms, to leather braiding with pearls, to leather and pearls with custom engraved stainless steel pendants that were water friendly. The company grew fast, and I expanded to other businesses across the US from California, Indiana, Florida and Michigan and offered Custom Branding opportunities for businesses to hire me to create their own line of jewelry to offer to their clientele.
PM: Did you run into any problems or resistance while launching your company?
I started Sea Salt Jewelry + Co June 1, 2014 before the birth of our 3rd child, and in this short amount of time, the response has been incredible. I have been sketching, researching how to videos, reading, educating and creating pieces daily. My dream Is to expand my talents into true Metal Smithing, create even more beautiful pieces with gems, stones and exotic materials from all over the world. I am so excited to share my creations with you, and it’s time to share with more people across the country and internationally.
PM: What is the most exciting part of running your own business?
I never thought I would be able to do all of this on my own for so long. The marketing is a full time job, let alone accounting, inventory, sales, designing and creating. At the end of the day, I am doing what I love and wouldn’t change a thing!
PM: What do you see in the future for Sea Salt Jewelry Co.?
I want to make such stunningly beautiful jewelry, that you feel as if you’re a mermaid who’s left the ocean for the very first time.
