When I was a teenager, patches were your badge of honor. Each one bought with care and strategically placed on your jacket. Only after much thought and weighing pros and cons could you decide where exactly on the jacket the patch would go. Eventually what started with one, would become a vast collection, and if you were anything like me you ended up keeping them tucked away and safe instead of using them!
I’ve been out of that scene for awhile and that is okay. I know they lost their appeal and could only be found at Hot Topic for a long time. I’ve recently started seeing a resurgence out in the interwebs of a new style of old school inspired patches all artistically and beautifully done. No Hot Topic shit. I am taken back and am in love all over again. Updated to Say Hey Punky Moms has patches now!
Dirty Needle Embroidery aka Cody McElroy is one of these kind souls. He was starting to already make a name for himself in the motorcycle scene out West (he resides in Nevada) when he decided to start his own company and make his hobby an actual business.
