Angela is a mompreneur mother of five with a husband from Texas and a lucrative home business. Her company, Hip Huggers Cloth Diapers, sells cloth diapers and related accessories as well as mommy cloth, nursing pads, snack bags, pregnancy tests and even RLR!
Angela launched Hip Huggers Cloth Diapers in 2011 after the birth of her third child. She started her own stash with just 5 pocket diapers, but limited funds had her shopping around for an affordable way to get into fluff full time. She started with a wholesale order, selling off what she didn’t need to friends, and from there, Hip Huggers was born!
I got the chance to interview Angela and here is what she had to say:
PM: When was your company founded and where are you based?
HH: I started Hip Huggers in February of 2012, I am based out of Victoria BC Canada.
PM: How many are involved in your company?
PM: What inspired you to start your company?
HH: I started Hip Huggers Cloth Diapers shortly after the birth of my 3rd child, we were wanting to use cloth diapers and after shopping around we noticed the extremely HIGH prices of the big name diapers. I wanted to have lower cost options available to myself and other lower income family’s wanting to use cloth diapers.
PM: Did you have a background in business prior to starting your company?
HH: I didn’t have any experience running a business and I am still learning!
PM: Did you run into any problems or resistance while launching?
HH: No, I did not run into many issues and it’s still running pretty smooth.
PM: How do you get the most out of your day?
HH: I spend my days at home with my 3 youngest kids, between meals/snack/playtime and naps, I am online promoting Hip huggers, and taking orders.
PM: How is your family apart of your business choices?
HH: My family is very helpful. My husband often does the shipping, my older kids help me label and package , and the little ones have fun being models.
PM: What music inspires you?
HH: We always have music playing around here, most styles are good with us. I tend to crank up electronica and 90’s hip hop; loud fun music keeps me motivated.
PM: What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?
HH: When i’m not working, we like to do art, dance and i also am heavily into photography.
PM: What do you see in the future for your shop?
HH: In the future I hope to get a few more stay at home moms selling my products, and then maybe I can open an actual store.
