I came across Fussbuttons’ Etsy exclusive shop while looking for baby gifts for some soon to be new mommas.
Their adorable handmade booties are what caught my eye first, but that is not the only items they make! You have to see their crocheted baby outfit designs which include baby Minions, pumpkins and Ninja Turtles! Perfect for dressing up baby for Halloween or year round.
That sold me and I had to contact M. to see if I could interview her for our Punky Moms Small Business Feature.
PM: When was your company founded?
2012 when I was pregnant with my first baby.
PM: Where are you based out of?
A little coastal town; Newport, Oregon.
PM: How many are involved in the company?
PM: What inspired you to start the company?
Shopping in the average baby section, I quickly realized how hard it was to find anything that wasn’t entirely pink, and even harder to find something handmade. I wanted a more unique and alternative style for my baby girl.
PM: Did you have a background in crafting prior to starting the company?
Yes! I’ve been a mad quilter since I was a kid, and I love to sew absolutely everything.
PM: Did you run into any problems or resistance while launching your company?
I did. Some people would ask me “…why would you want skulls and bats on your baby stuff?…” (my reply is because that is awesome!).
PM: What is the most exciting part of running your own business?
Getting feedback from customers who love their little items as much as I love making them. When someone contacts me looking for something a bit different than your generic baby stuff, it feels awesome to help them customize an order that fits their style.
PM: What do you see in the future for FussButtons?
Toddler and child sized stuff. As my kiddos grow into bigger sizes, I’m seeing that the struggle is still real.
I know if I was having another baby I would be first to buy that black and white checkered burp cloth and matching booties set for my future skater! Thank you for the interview M. and all the best wishes in you venture!
