At a certain age, your baby is going to want to start exploring (damn) and will be open to trying to new things, especially food. Baby Led Weaning is a great method to allow them to grasp and examine food and in turn letting them learn to feed themselves! One less thing to worry about right?

My little guy was ready with the first bite and has not looked back. I tried to be good in the beginning, gave him something new and waited a few days before trying something else. Just to make sure he wasn’t allergic to anything. Eventually though we were trying 5 things at a time and luckily we have had minimal digestion issues. We started at 5-6 months was some basic purees and moved on to some fruits that he could grasp. It goes without saying (I hope) not to leave your child unattended while he is eating. 

We have (and are still) doing a combination of finger foods and a few purees and yogurts. It is what worked best for us. You may decide to not try purees at all and go straight to the finger foods. Sweet Potato, avocado and banana are all great first ones to try. I have tried to compile a list of 100 baby led weaning finger food ideas to hopefully give you some ideas. Please use common sense and remove the seeds from various fruits. When and if you decide to branch out and cook some of these recipes, def make a lot and freeze them for later!
