DIY Darling: The Silver Path

Catriona aka echoes aka Cat has been a member on Punkymoms for several years. She has been interested in esoteric things since she was a teenager. It wasn’t until she emigrated to the US from the UK at the age of fifteen that she was able to fully pursue things. She has been reading tarot for fifteen years and devouring information about semi-precious stones and beaded jewelry.

She became a certified hypnotist with specialties in past life regression in 2005 and an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church in 2010. When she is not attempting to ascend to different planes of existence, she is ferrying her son to and from school and making sure the house doesn’t burn down. She lives in Central Florida with her spouse, her son, two lodgers, three cats, a dog and a betta. When she isn’t beading or coding she will detox watching Lie to Me, House or No Ordinary Family while trying to avoid games on Facebook.

Several punkymoms have had a tarot reading from her over the years with amazing results.  The Silver Path started out as primarily an online store with her 3 other partners, but has blossomed into so much more. Cat has offered a goody basket to this month’s winner, filled with a collection of teas and salts and other surprise goodies. Over a $30 value.  To be entered, I’ll give you 3 few chances..Winners will be announced on April 1st.

DIY Darling: Glitterfist

I am excited to show you punkies December’s DIY Darling. Kristina aka glitterfist on the boards has long been an underground artist & photo-poet. She grew up with a legendary biker father, which made it easy for her to ride the unconventional line.

Photographing beautiful freaks & progressive performers since the early 80’s, she’s shot numerous bands like The Pretenders, Korn & SuperSuckers, Bush, as well as anti-celebrities like Jesse James. Drag queens, squatters, pin-up dolls, skaters, actors, pin-stripers, and a multitude of desperadoes & dream boats have all been caught by her lens. You can check out more of her amazing photography at her site. Her art and images are reminiscent of a Stones or Velvet Underground song; mixing vintage threads of simplicity, sexiness and grit with pure tones of beauty, hope, light and color.  Kristina was also the inspiration/muse/model for NYC painters Peter Cox and Joseph Peller, as well as several other artists nation-wide. Yeah, she’s a hottie.

Her newest venture incorporates all that. Her attraction to the craft of enameled copper is but a reflection of herself; tough/fragile/translucent & unique. The unpredictable outcome of the mixed colors, & enamel compounds are truly exciting & make each piece a one-of-a-kind hand-made jewel. She started posting these a little while ago and I snatched one up for myself right away. I get compliments on my necklace  all the time.

Kristina sent me a pendant to giveaway to our lucky contest winner. This contest will run till the end of December. You have until 11 am EST on the 31st to enter. How do I enter? Same as last time. Comment here on this post telling me where you last were that made you happy.  Share, tweet, facebook about this giveaway, and come back and comment to tell me that for more chances to win.

Definitly hit up her etsy shop and for an added bonus, like her facebook page and you can come back and comment again.

Have fun punkies!

DIY Darling: Jstar

We have some exciting news for you today! Punkymoms is starting a new monthly feature called DIY Darlings. We will be showcasing a Punkymom crafty member for the entire month. Not only are we going to be showing off some of our favorite punkies but at the end of the month, we will do a giveaway! We have some talented woman (and men) who are members here so you are in for a real treat!

Our debut on the DIY Darling stage is seasoned member Jstar. Jstar is the epitome of a renaissance punkymom. Every single item I have seen her touch has turned to creative gold. She has long been the Punk Rock Betty Crocker in the Orlando punkymom scene. Practically everyone in the Central Florida area has had one of her stellar cakes at their kid’s party.  Her love of baked goods is what prompted her to call her brand new etsy shop Jenny Sweet Cakes.

Jstar's is Betty F*ckin Crocker

Among other things she has started to make some ingenious jewelery pieces. Using mostly recycled materials, I’ve seen them in person and they are great quality. The newest to her collection are the epoxy sparkly resin skulls. So freakin cute!

So what about the giveaway? Well Jstar has been so kind to giveaway one of her darling baby/toddler shirts. Your choice! You are in for a treat. I’ve seen these shirts in person and they ROCK! Want to dress your little one in Punk Baby or New Wave baby? Well you very well could. Check out the selection here.

You do not have to be a member of the Punkymoms forum to win (although you should consider it cause we kick ass).
